Ce Ce Winans-Thy Kingdom Come

   Review by Dr. Naima Johnston

Ce Ce on Kingdom tour
One of the most gifted and beloved Gospel singers of all time delivers another uplifting offering that spans the genres of worship, praise, and inspirational gospel music. Ce Ce Winans whose voice is powerful, full of conviction and sincerity presents her newest CD, Thy Kingdom Come, to an audience eager to accept her musical gift. There is virtually nothing critical that can be said about, Thy Kingdom Come allowing it to vie for the title of Ce Ce’s all around best album ever.

From the first pure melodic strains of the opening track, Holy, you’ll want to join in with Ce Ce and welcome Father God into this place. This is an album that will make you want to dance, worship and clap your hands with memorable hooks and the gospel presented musically in creative and unique ways. Worthy, will have you humming after the song is finished, and Ce Ce encourages us to continue to hope as we dance to, It Ani’t Over.

My personal favorites include: Waging War, Bless His Holy Name and the Coast is Clear. These are not your typical gospel songs, bolstered by strong songwriting, smooth production, unique arrangements and Ce Ce herself, this is an album that defies stereotypes and is a true blessing to the listener. The last song, Million Miles, is a perfect way to end Thy Kingdom Come, which will leave the listener singing, that they to, “wanna be with you!” This is truly one of the greatest releases of 2008, Thy Kingdom Come is a true call to praise the King of Kings and Lord of Lords
