Sheerluck Homes and the Golden Ruler

New Big Idea! Veggie Tale release

Review by Chrysanthi Snyder CCN-USA

You can’t go wrong with Veggie-Tales. Again Big Idea scores a big hit with this brand new movie. “Sheerluck Homes and the Golden Ruler.” It is a classic tale about friendship and the power of the golden rule. Get it, golden rule… golden ruler. Sheerluk might be a good opener if you want to bring up advanced British literary works when your kids start asking about whom Sheerluck Holmes and Dr. Watson really are. Well maybe not. But again Big Idea has put together a genius movie that brings humor to all ages.

Larry the Cucumber plays Sheerluck Holmes and Bob the Tomato plays his ever suffering side kick Dr. Watson. Together they’ve solved many a mystery with their powers of observation and knowledge of the forensic sciences. But when the most important treasure in all of England is stolen will it ever be found? With Sheerluck talking all the credit for cases that they’ve solved together and with Watson feeling under valued and put out in the cold by the way his friend is treating him; will their friendship stand the test?

As in every Veggie Tales movie you also get the great pre-movie staring Archibald Asparagus as Don Quixote in “Asparagus of La Mancha.” Most kids won’t get the references about Don Quixote and fighting the windmill, but to all us who know the story, it’s just funny. And Larry blesses us with a guaranteed classic Silly Song called “The Gated Community.”

This new Veggie Tales is taught from the Bible verse Proverbs 17:17 and is a great way for your kids to discover how valuable true friendship really is. It’s hitting the shelves right in time for Easter and the price is low at $14.99 DVD and $ 12.99 VHS. So put this movie in every Easter basket that you can get your hands on.
